About the Owner:

Bret fled Czechoslovakia as a refugee over forty years ago. In the “old country”, he spent his youth as a bridge engineer by day, and moonlighting pubs in his uncle’s band deep in the Czech mountainside by night.

Once he escaped to Canada, he spent his first few decades raising a family as a truck driver in Ottawa - still writing music, collecting and repairing instruments, and dreaming of a way to get closer to music in his everyday life.

One day, he took a chance on his own shop and Sounds Good Music Ottawa was born. Today, you’ll find him jamming and writing music and spending time with hobbyist to professional musicians like yourself every day. He also enjoys his time playing base guitar in Swing Fever, a gypsy jazz band playing festivals, bars, and diplomatic events from Wakefield to the Chateau Laurier.

Come pay him a visit and “Czech” out his store!!
